Madhya Pradesh: Preparations will begin for Ujjain Simhastha 2028 at 8 famous ghats of Omkareshwar, including Khedi Ghat, Nagar Ghat, Sangam Ghat, and Brahma Ghat. Many tourists from India and outside will visit the Simhastha gathering fair which lasts for about 60 days, and preparations have already begun to ensure that they have access to all amenities.

The Ujjain Simhastha “Kumbh Mela” is celebrated once every 12 years. The last Kumbh Mela, which was held in 2026, will now be held in Ujjain from April to May 2028, attracting thousands of sadhus and devotees from across the country.

The entry and exit gates of Omkareshwar will also be changed during Simhastha 2028.

During the meeting on Thursday, September 25, it was decided by Indore Divisional Commissioner Dr. Sudam Khade that convenient public waiting rooms will be built from Mortakka to Omkareshwar.

Collector Rishav Gupta, Superintendent of Police Manoj Kumar Rai, District Panchayat CEO Dr. Nagarjuna B. Gowda, SDM Punasa Shivam Prajapati, District CEO Dr. Shrikrishna Sushir, and Additional Superintendent of Police Rajesh Raghuvanshi, among other officials, were present at the meeting.

They also stated that senior officials should prepare and approve proposals for drinking water, waiting rooms, temporary toilets, temporary healthcare facilities, the construction of a ghat on the banks of the Narmada, an additional access road, and the construction of an additional bridge for the convenience of devotees visiting Simhastha.

Separate sheds will be constructed for Omkar Parvat Parikrama so that devotees do not face any problems due to sun and rain.

Preparations are being made keeping in mind other facilities like drinking water, waiting rooms, toilets, and hospitals for the tourist travellers.

Superintendent of Police Manoj Kumar Rai stated that an Integrated Command and Central Center (ICCC) has been approved at the Mandhata Police Station premises.

These 8 ghats of Omkareshwar are being prepared before Simhastha 2028.

On Sunday, 28 September 2025, CM Dr. Mohan Yadav announced new projects worth Rs. 370 crore for 11 major development Works for Simhastha-2028.

So when you visit Ujjain during Simhastha 2028, do not forget to visit Omkareshwar for a holy dive in the Narmada River.
